Help Save Our Rescue

We are running out of time to save the rescue and the dogs…

It’s nearly Christmas and whilst most people are out Christmas shopping, putting decorations up and getting ready to enjoy the festivities, for us here at the Max & George dog rescue Christmas is cancelled.

Out of the blue on 1st December 2023, we received an eviction notice giving us just 30 days to vacate. This means we have to relocate the rescue by 31st December. We did ask for a short time extension to get us past the Christmas period but this has been refused.

If we do not get a new location to move to, and in time to organise the big move (which involves dismantling the kennels) etc then it is with the most heaviest of hearts that we will have to close the rescue and those dogs that cannot be homed will have to be PTS.

We have no words to describe the depth of despair we all feel in this moment.

Aside from the desperation and heartbreak, we feel completely at a loss as to understand the lack of compassion from the landlord. They repeatedly told us we could stay as long as we wanted and do what we wanted. However, they have now changed their minds and we have to leave by 31st December.

There is no Christmas for any of us here at the rescue this year. We are instead praying for a Christmas miracle and hoping that someone comes forward with suitable land for us to move to and save the dogs along with the rescue.

We are looking somewhere temporary for approximately 12 months whilst we secure permanent facilities. We need somewhere with hard standing to erect the kennels (which are all wooden and of a temporary structure), somewhere safe to walk the dogs, ideally water and electric. We will consider anything if it means saving the dogs.

There couldn’t be a more worse time of year to move, let alone a dog rescue with 20 dogs that are dependable on us for their very survival. There is no Christmas spirit and even a request for a months extension has been refused.

In the history of the Max & George Trust, there has never been a more bleaker time.
